Arijit Singh

Arijit Singh was born on April 25, 1987, in Jiaganj, a small town in West Bengal, India. Raised in a musical household, he began training in Hindustani classical music at a very young age under guru Rajendra Prasad Hazari. He pursued formal music education at Sangit Bhavana, Visva-Bharati University, one of India's most prestigious music institutions. He gained national attention as a contestant on the reality show Fame Gurukul in 2005. After years of working behind the scenes as a music producer and background vocalist, his breakthrough came with the song Phir Le Aaya Dil (2013) and exploded with Tum Hi Ho from Aashiqui 2 (2013) — a song that became a cultural phenomenon across India and the Indian diaspora. He has since become the dominant voice of Bollywood music, singing for virtually every major film and accumulating billions of streams globally.
